JANUARY 28 to FEBRUARY 1, 2024

SOLD OUT!!

Experience the magic of winter in the Tetons!! Winter is a truly magical season and the Tetons take my breath away when they are covered in snow!

Grand Teton National Park is one of the most spectacular and awe inspiring landscapes in the world. These rocky peaks rise majestically above the floor of the Jackson Hole Valley and will take your breath away with their beauty. There is endless inspiration for photographers in this amazing corner of northwest Wyoming. In the winter, the peaks and ground are covered in snow and the landscape is a winter wonderland!

The Tetons have held my heart since I was a young girl. As the story has been told to me, at the age of 4, I held up my arms and declared them "My Mountains". I think it’s a place that makes everyone feel that way! Come spend 3 days with me in this amazing place, take in the winter beauty, and make them your mountains too :)

Skill Level: All skill levels welcome though a solid understanding of shooting in manual is recommended.

Activity Level:  Many of our locations are very close to the parking areas, which require little walking. However, participants should be prepared to walk up to several miles per day as we move around at locations. It is also more taxing to walk through the snow and this should be expected.

INVESTMENT & ACCOMODATIONS:

$3600 Private cabin with 1 bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living space all to yourself - SOLD OUT

Deposit: A *deposit of $1000 will hold your place in the workshop. The remaining balance is due 90 days prior to the workshop*. Deposit is non refundable unless your spot is filled, in which case it will be refunded minus an administration fee. This same policy applies to the full tuition after it is paid.

Group Size: Limited to 7 attendees

Lodging: We will be staying at Dornan's. This location will be ideal as we will be close to Grand Teton National Park and many excellent shooting locations. We are also only 15-20 minutes from the town of Jackson and about 10 minutes from the Jackson Hole (JAC) airport. Other airport alternatives are Idaho Falls (approx 2 hours drive) and Salt Lake City (5 hours drive).

We will be staying in cozy cabins, some with 1 bedroom, some with 2 bedrooms, and all with a bathroom and living area including kitchen, dining table and small living space. 4 attendees will have a bedroom in a shared two bedroom cabin and 3 attendees will have their own one bedroom cabin.  Dornan's has a small grocery store and a pizza/pasta restaurant. Dornan's is our home away from home and chosen not only for its fantastic location but to foster a retreat feeling of this workshop together.  Not to mention, the view.

Itinerary: Participants should be prepared to be flexible in the schedule. Weather and photographic conditions will dictate our schedule for shooting, discussion, meals and even sleep. We will take advantage of getting out in the field as much as possible while still providing time for meaningful connection, discussion and meals together. Weather in the Tetons varies greatly and the forecast can change on a dime. Therefore the itinerary remains flexible and TBD until very close to the retreat and even may change as we go.

The workshop time will be focused in the field. Post processing questions are welcome following the retreat.

Photographic Opportunities: We will chase the light and follow Mother Nature as she guides us through our three days. We will capture the grand landscape as well as more intimate scenes. We will hope to capture wildlife in our adventures as well.

Testimonials from the 2021 Winter Magic in the Tetons Retreat:

As a desert dweller from Phoenix, AZ, I was nervous to attend the cold Winter Magic in the Tetons. However, I didn’t need to fear! Kristen provided ample instructions and tips for staying warm and keeping gear safe. Her deep knowledge and love of the region meant she took us to some of the most beautiful and iconic locations in the area. Her depth of knowledge, generosity in sharing, teaching and building community meant I came home with images, memories, and new friends I will never forget. I can’t wait to attend my next retreat! ~ Lisa Edney

If you have the chance to attend one of Kristen Ryan’s workshops, especially the “Winter Magic in the Tetons” event, then do it! This was one of the best experiences I have ever had. It brought back my love for photography and capturing the world through a camera. I was not at the level of the others in my group, but it didn’t matter. I had incredible guidance from Kristen and the other women in the group because we were all there for the same thing; to show and capture the beauty of our world. I learned so much and my skill level progressed more than I could have imagined. The Tetons covered with snow were so impressive, simply breathtaking. I would attend every Winter if I had the chance! ~ Nicole Sutherland

This trip was a truly magical experience. Yes, it was cold (my glasses didn't fog up, they iced up!) but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Today, above the doorway in my living room and the first thing anyone sees when they come in, is a majestic panorama of snow covered mountains that I am beyond proud of. The hardest part of the entire trip wasn't the cold -- it was trying to balance the fun of staying up late talking to these amazing, inspiring women with the need to get up before sunrise the next day! ~ Jessica Katz
